Liverpool v Real Madrid 1st leg predictions
Liverpool will face the defending champions on 21 February for the 5th time since the 2017/18 UCL final. We know it’s a painful reminder to many fans, but Real won three matches and drew one. When it comes to Champions League history, the Reds haven’t beaten Los Blancos since the 2008/09 season. They play at Anfield in the 1st leg so let’s see some of those Liverpool v Real Madrid predictions.
Real’s squad is fully healthy, as of 22 December. As for Liverpool, they’re missing Melo, Diaz, Jota, and Keita. However, all of them are expected to be back by mid-January. The last time these two played at Anfield, the match ended in a draw. Liverpool’s odds of winning are significantly higher this time but we don’t want to underestimate Madrid.
We don’t think this will be a high-scoring match so bet on the over 1.5 goal total. Most predictions say Liverpool will win by two goals but that margin seems too high. In our opinion, the Reds will win this 2-1. However, they won’t advance after the 2nd leg. If you’re looking for a handicap bet, choose Liverpool -0.5. You can find more details about this in our 2023 UCL Round of 16 betting guide.
