Australia or Tunisia - No way both of them will advance
After Australia’s June 13 victory over Peru, World Cup Group D was finally set. Plenty of tears of joy and sadness followed this as the Socceroos became the winners of the intercontinental play-off final. Let’s address the elephant in the room, France. France went unbeaten in the UEFA qualifiers and already made it to the finals months ago.
They also have one of the best squads in the world. Then we have Denmark, who qualified after finishing first in UEFA Group F. Tunisia’s 1-0 victory against Mali on aggregate earned them their 6th World Cup appearance back in March. Let’s get to the betting predictions now and look at Group D of the World Cup.
What Does 2022 Hold for The Reigning Champions? – France Betting Predictions
The French national football team is the clear-cut favorite to win Group D at the World Cup this year. They’re the reigning World Cup champions and became the first-ever nation to win all possible competitions after they won the Nations League in 2021. In FIFA’s recent rankings, France was ranked 3rd in the world, only behind Brazil and Belgium. This year will be the country’s 16th appearance at the tournament. On 20BET Sportsbook, their odds of winning their group are 1.4, while their odds to qualify for the next round are 1.08. Furthermore, they’re among the top 3 favorites to win the competition altogether, with odds of 7.00.
It’s only natural that one of the most decorated and most valuable teams of all time is considered a favorite for the World Cup. The current team’s value is estimated to be just a little above €1 billion. Only England’s squad is currently worth more, or more precisely, valued higher. Australia Finally Enters World Cup Group D
The Socceroos took a long time to qualify for this year’s World Cup but they’re finally here. They beat Peru in a nerve-racking match that ended in penalties, 5-4 to Australia. However, World Cup Group D betting predictions do not favor the Australians.

Their odds are almost as bad as Tunisia’s and will be a hard-fought battle to advance to the knockout stages. This is their 6th World Cup appearance, but they’ve only managed to reach the Round of 16 once, in 2006. Furthermore, they also haven’t won a single World Cup match since 2010, despite qualifying for five straight tournaments now.
Their odds of winning Group D are 11.03 or 19.62, depending on which betting category you select on 20BET Sportsbook. If it’s any comfort, their odds of qualifying aren’t that bad with 3.21. Even with all of this, online sportsbook sites in France do not think that Australia can get past Denmark or France.
Denmark Looking Strong in Recent Performances
Denmark is in a fairly good position. This month alone, they beat Austria twice and France once. They only lost to Croatia 1-0. Indeed, the Nations League is not the same as the World Cup, but credit needs to be given when due. Similar to the Australians, 2022 will also be Denmark’s 6th appearance at the tournament.
Their best result was reaching the quarterfinals in 1998 when France eventually went on to win it all. In their previous World Cup, Denmark was also grouped with Australia and France. Back then they managed to advance to the Round of 16 and their chances are pretty good this year too.

On 20BET Sportsbook, their odds of winning Group D are 4.01, which is very possible. They’ve beaten all of their groupmates before so a potential top Danish performance is still on the table. Their odds of qualifying are also really good with 1.57. Thankfully Eriksen is back in the national squad so November is going to be interesting. In the latest FIFA rankings, Denmark was in a strong 11th position, even above Germany.
Can Tunisia Go Against All Odds? – World Cup Group D Betting Predictions
Tunisia recently beat Chile and Japan, both of whom are ranked much higher than the African nation. After all, upsets can happen at the World Cup too. Since its independence, Tunisia qualified for the tournament six times, including this year. Based on World Cup experience, they are fairly on the same level as Australia and Denmark.

The problem is that they never made it past the group stage. They also only have two victories out of their all-time sixteen matches. On the bright side, Tunisia has been slowly climbing the world rankings and now they’re at the 35th spot. So what about their actual odds this year?
Even without the support of online sportsbooks in France, Tunisia can still shock the world. When you’re the underdog you don’t need to humiliate your opponent to prove a point. Even a draw is enough. Their odds of winning Group D at the World Cup are 15.05 and 19.62, which is alarming. Reaching the Round of 16 doesn’t seem this impossible however with odds of 3.37. The World Cup can’t come soon enough.
