Donald Trump has now officially revealed his VP running mate. Will that change Trump’s betting odds to win the presidency?
For months people have been clamoring for Donald Trump to choose his vice presidential running mate. Speculation was high as to who is may be, with some assuming it would be a military official, others believing it could be another business person. That speculation is now over, as Trump has officially revealed his choice.
Much to the disappointment of those hoping it would be some type of celebrity, Trump has chosen Indiana Governor Mike Pence to be his right hand man for the 2016 election. For many, it seemed like a logical choice. Pence publically endorsed Trump in May, and the two share many similar ideas on important issues.
Those who have already bet on Donald Trump through an online sportsbooks in the UK may be interested to see how this news affects Trump’s betting odds. On BetVictor, Trump is listed as a 2/1 underdog to be the next US president.
What else could affect Trump’s betting odds?
Donald Trump just cannot seem to stay away from controversy. The most recent news related to Donald actually centers around his wife, Melania Trump. The Slovenian former-model gave a speech at the Republic National Convention on Monday, and seemed to knock it out of the park. That was until videos began to surface that show Melania’s speech sharing a dubiously close similarity to Michelle Obama’s 2008 speech at the Democratic Convention.
Will something like that really affect Trump’s betting odds or presidential run? Probably not. But it certainly doesn’t help. It will be interesting to see how Trump’s new VP will act during the lead up to the election. He certainly seems grateful to have been considered, telling CBS news, “It’s very, very humbling and I couldn’t be more honored to have the opportunity to run with, and serve with, the next president of the United States.”
