Donald Trump has started the fight against illegal immigration right after his presidential election in 2016. Trump accuses Mexico of uncontrolled migration policy. Besides, it was one of the main topics during his election campaign. Trump promised the construction of a 3200-km-long wall on the border with Mexico. Trump also promised that Mexico would pay for this wall. However, the Mexican government categorically refused to do it. As a result, Trump is trying to get funds for the construction of a fence from the US budget. Because of this fact, he constantly comes into conflict with Congress.

Donald Trump promised to build a wall on the border with Mexico back in 2015 when he first announced his intention to participate in the presidential campaign. Also, the head of the state believes that a “humanitarian crisis” is taking place on the border between the USA and Mexico. Besides, he is concerned about the flow of immigrants and the criminal situation in areas near the border. Online gambling sites in the US predict the odds for the implementation of this project.

For Trump, the wall has both political and symbolic significance because it was one of the election promises of the 45th president. Moreover, Trump said that he would build a beautiful wall and make Mexico pay for it. Because of this project, Trump refused to sign the budget for 2019. Also, the US president decided to take radical measures: to introduce a state of emergency in the country and begin to build a wall.

During the election campaign, Trump repeatedly stated that he would force Mexico to pay for the wall. However, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto on behalf of all Mexicans said that his country would not pay for its construction. “President Donald Trump. No. Mexico will never pay for the wall. Not now, not ever. Sincerely your Mexico (all of us),” Pena Nieto wrote on his Twitter microblog in Spanish and English languages.

The US president later explained that the southern neighbor would indirectly finance the construction through their new US Trade Agreement with Mexico and Canada (USMCA), which replaced NAFTA. However, the USMCA has not yet entered into force, and the president has not yet explained the mechanism for such funding. The 22Bet gambling site offers 12.5 odds for Mexico to finance this construction. USA–Mexico border-wall bets estimate possible odds for closing this deal. For now, they are not in Trump’s favor.
