  • 75th US Women’s Open is held this week, 10-13 December in Houston, Texas
  • It is the last major tournament of the 2020 season
  • South Korean top players, Kim and Park are the favorites ahead of American golfers

The last women’s major golf tournament, the US Women’s Open will be held this week, between the 10th and 13th of December at Champions Golf Club in Houston, Texas. All major players will be there and fight for the victory and the $1,000,000 prize. In the US Women’s Open odds South Korean Kim is the favorite. But there are several other players who can win the tournament.

The first US Women’s Open was organized in 1946, so it is the longest-running event in the LPGA Tour. This year it has been rescheduled for December from it’s original date in June, which makes it the last major tournament of the year. For the first time the event will be held over two courses, on Cypress Creek and Jackrabbit courses. It is not only one of the most prestigious race in the LPGA Tour but it also has the biggest prize fund with $5,5 million. So it’s not surprising that all major players will take part in it. From the world ranking leader to nine former US Open champions. South Korean Lee Jeong-eun is the defending champion but her compatriots are the top favorites this time.

US Women’s Open odds mention South Korean top players in the favorites

Online sportsbooks in South Korea offer the smallest odds for their local favorites’ success ahead of the other players. World No2 Sei Young Kim has the odds of 11.00 to win the event. While her compatriot, Inbee Park has the odds of 12.00. Kim is in great form after winning her first major tournament, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in October. She also won the following event, the Pelcian Women’s Championship in Florida. Kim’s best result in the US Open was a T-8 finish in 2017 but she has a big chance now to improve on this record.

One of her biggest rivals can be world No5 Inbee Park, who won the Women’s Australian Open in the beginning of the year. In October Park was also close to winning the Women’s PGA Championship but was defeated by Kim at the end. Now she has the opportunity to take revenge and win her third title here. In 2008, at the age of only 19 Park became the youngest winner of the US Women’s Open. And she could win the title again in 2013.  She has eight top 10 finishes here so this is one of her strongest tournaments of the season.

Top American favorites

Online gambling sites in South Korea also mention local players with a chance of winning in their US Women’s Open odds. One of them is Danielle Kang who has the odds of 13.00 on 1xBet. She is currently in 4th place in the world ranking after winning 2 LPGA Tour events in the summer. The Californian player’s best result in this tournament is a 4th place finish in 2018, but she will also go for the victory which would be her second major title.

Another American player who can perform well on this year’s US Women’s Open is Nelly Korda. She moved to 3rd place in the rankings this season. The 22-year-old player has three LPGA Tour wins so far. Korda was also close to getting her first major tournament trophy on this year’s ANA Inspiration.  But she lost there in a three-way playoff with Mirim Lee and Brooke Henderson. In spite of her young age she will play in her sixth US Women’s Open odds of 19.00 to win the tournament.
