Three More Recommended Nevada Online Poker Applicants

The Nevada Gaming Control Board recommended three companies for a Nevada online poker license last week. The applicants were land casino operator giant MGM Resorts International, Z4Poker and CAMS. The applications are forwarded to the Nevada Gaming Commission for approval during the next month.

Present American gambling laws only allow dollar poker wagers in certain land-based casinos.

But the gambling regulations will change, giving way to legalized online poker in the USA, provided that individual states also agree to let the real-money card gaming commence. Nevada will surely support such a decision.

With the Nevada Gaming Control Board’s decision, MGM Z4Poker and CAMS will join an ever-growing company of 12 aspirant intrastate online poker operators including American Casino and Entertainment Propertie, Bally Technologies, Boyd Gaming, Fertitta Interactivem Golden Nugget, WMS Gaming Inc., Shuffle Master, International Game Technology, South Point Poker, Monarch Interactive and Global Cash Access.

MGM Resorts International is based in Paradise, Nevada. It is the second largest gambling company in the world with revenues of about $6 billion in 2009. MGM Resorts owns and operates 15 properties in Nevada, Mississippi and Michigan, and has 50% investments in four other properties in Nevada, Illinois and in Macau, China.

MGM and Boyd already have signed a deal with Bwin.Party to launch online poker operations together in Nevada when the intrastate market is declared legally open.
