The 2014 World Cup may be over, but of course it’s not forgotten, and it’s already time for a brand new campaign – the 2016 Euro qualifiers. The first day of matches is behind us and already there were a couple of surprises for fans and bettors, playing under British gambling laws.
Portugal were stunned 0-1 by Albania at home, putting them into very difficult position in Group I right at the start of the qualifying campaign. Greece also lost their first game at home, failing to catch up to Romania leading 1-0.

Denmark managed to overpower Armenia 2-1 at home, and Poland humiliated the newcomers Gibraltar 7-0 playing away, while Finland scored 3 against Faroe Islands’ 1.

2016 Euro Qualifiers continue today and tomorrow delivering hot betting odds
• Online sportsbooks in England offer a long list of betting lines
• England will face the Swiss in their first qualifier played away
• Czech Republic v Netherlands is also expected to be an interesting fixture
The Euro qualifiers continue with today’s matches with plenty of opportunities to bet at online sportsbooks in the United Kingdom. Russia are taking on Liechtenstein in the first match of the day in Moscow at 18.00 CET. The remaining eight matches are all taking place at 20.45 CET.
Luxembourg welcome Belarus, Spain are playing against FYROM, while San Marino will be hosting their qualifier against Lithuania. One of the central matches today is Switzerland vs England, where an updated English side will try and put their dismal World Cup performance behind them.
Another interesting game will be held in Vienna, where Austria are welcoming Sweden. Elsewhere Montenegro will be hosting Moldova, Ukraine welcome neighbors Slovakia, and last but not least Estonia are playing hosts to Slovenia.
Tuesday’s qualifiers
The first round of 2016 Euro qualifiers will end on Tuesday with another 8 matches including some old-time rivalries. Azerbaijan will be welcoming Bulgaria, while Kazakhstan are hosting Latvia, and Turkey fly to Iceland to kick off their campaigns.
Those who bet on sports in the United Kingdom will also find it quite rewarding to wager on Czech Republic vs Netherlands qualifier. The Czech are actually leading the Dutch following their eight meetings under UEFA Euro flag. Four wins, three draws and only one loss in both qualifying and final tournaments.
Elsewhere Andorra will be welcoming Wales, Bosnia and Herzegovina host Cyprus hoping to produce the same great performance as they did during the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. Croatia host Matla, and Italy are travelling to Norway looking to turn the page on their disappointing World Cup performance.
Betting odds for the qualifiers
Looking at the betting odds offered for the upcoming matches, punters can find some great offers capable of bringing them quite some payouts if they guess the outcomes right. Surprisingly enough, Austria are favored against Sweden with 2.35 odds compared to a line of 3.00 for the Swedish success and 3.20 for the draw. A very good offer is given for Zlatan Ibrahimovic to score first – 5.00 odds – a quite hefty payout should the striker find the back of the net first, and there’s no reason why he shouldn’t do so.
The highlight of betting for today is of course the Switzerland vs England encounter. The Swiss have the home turf advantage and that explains why they are slightly favored at Betway: 2.60 odds against a line of 2.75 for the Three Lions, and 3.10 for the draw.
Combo betting offers are quite good too: Switzerland to win, while both teams to score delivers 5.50 odds, while a draw and both teams scoring pays at 4.50, and finally both teams scoring and England winning the encounter offers 6.50 odds.
The most anticipated results are the 1-1 draw and 1-0 win for the Swiss, each paying at 5.50. 2-1 and 2-0 success for England has a hefty 11.00 payout at Betway, while Switzerland’s 2-0 win pays a bit less – at 9.00. However, should the hosts win 3-0, the online bookies will provide a huge payout at 26.00. The same result for the Three Lions brings an even bigger line of 34.00.
As for tomorrow’s qualifiers the most interesting encounter to bet on is of course the Czech Republic vs Netherlands affair. Quite understandably, Betway is favoring the visitors with 1.90 odds giving the Czech only 4.00 odds to win and valuing the draw at 3.40.
But Czech Republic are quite good against the Dutch at Euros, strictly looking at statistics, and combo offer on them winning and both teams scoring delivering 7.50 odds is quite a smart bet to make if you want to win big.
Goals-wise it’s once again the 1-1 draw, which seems to be the most popular choice, paying at 5.75 odds from Betway. 1-0 to the Czech brings a nice 8.50 payout, but their 2-0 success will pay at already great line of 16.00. Single goal win for the Dutch pays at 6.00, while 2-0 – at 8.00, however, should the Oranje win with 3-0, the payout is 16.00.
Robin Van Persie is of course the favorite to score first with 5.00 odds, while Jeremain Lens got a line of 7.00 and both Luciano Narsingh and Davy Klassen got 7.50 odds to open the scoreline first. The first player for the Czechs expected to be the on opening the scoresheet is Matej Vydra, valued to do so with 8.00 odds from Betway.
