As the WSOP approaches, tournament director Ty Stewart talked about the details of this year’s highlights.
The most prestigious event in the poker industry will run from May 27 to July 14 and will take place at one of the most popular American poker rooms, at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Seats are filling up for the Big One for One Drop competition, as more and more professional players are signing up for the $1 million buy-in charity-oriented event. Stewart is confident that the 56 player cap will be reached soon, giving participants a chance to win $20 million.
With online poker sites in the US state of Nevada now perfectly legal, participants will also be able to play a few hands on the internet.
Winner gets $10 million guaranteed
A total of 200 seats will be available for the Main Event and 100 of these have already been won in satellites. With a $10,000 buy-in, players will get to compete for a $10 million first prize guarantee.
The 45th Annual World Series of Poker will feature 65 distinct gold bracelet events, as well as Open-Face Chinese poker cash games and a “grind room” for those who bring their laptop and want to go online. Participants will be able to register as late as 6 hours before the beginning of most competitions.
