A man that has been shot dead in Sydney happens to have been a high profile casino regular awaiting trial in Melbourne.
According to gambling news, the man in question is Peter Tan Hoang aged 36. A resident of Sydney, he was discovered critically injured at Croydon Park in the early hours of Sunday morning. His body showed clear signs of multiple gunshot wounds, however despite the immense efforts made by the paramedics they were unable to save him.
Although Hoang was reported to have had only low paid jobs, he still somehow managed to spend millions in casinos across Australia. He was a regular with all the biggest gaming institutions on the continent which has granted him the title of a high roller.
Hoang was a Crown Casino VIP
In October 2012, Australian Federal Police arrested the man in Melbourne’s Crown Casino which was part of a sting operation. A sum of $1.5 million was uncovered by the authorities and is believed to have been proceeds from criminal undertaking.
Hoang denied committing any illegal acts or breaking any Australian gambling laws and was preparing himself for a trial in Melbourne in August next year. Melbourne Magistrates Court was informed at a committal hearing in June that Hoang was a VIP at the Crown Casino and would regularly have more than $1 million in cash to play with.
