Sweden Surveys Online Poker Players Trends and Demographics

Swedish survey took a deeper look into online poker players habits at Swedish online poker rooms
Renowned Swedish consultancy company Concilia & Norstat carried out a survey for the Swedish State gambling monopoly Svenska Spel. The target of the survey were demographics and habit of poker enthusiasts playing at online poker sites in Sweden.
The survey was conducted over the phone and touched upon some 3,600 Swedish citizens. The results show that over fourteen percent of online poker players indulge in the game to supplement their income.
Only four percent of the respondents told Sweden gambling news they plan to choose online poker as their main occupation, while two percent of those are already financing their lives from the games.
Svenska Spel online gambling destination, operating in full compliance with Swedish gambling laws, revealed the average online poker player. They are male, 37-years-old, married and spend around SEK 600 ($89) on the online poker, which they play entirely for fun. Only eleven percent of registered players are female.
Other results of the survey shown that more than 170,000 Swedish online poker players spend more time enjoying the game during the winter and autumn months. Average spending at Svenska Spel is SEK 668 ($100) per quarter, an increase of around SEK 39 ($5) since the introduction of the game in Sweden back in 2006.
Martin Bengtsson, Svenska Spel Poker brand manager, commented on the survey: “It is not about maximizing profit, without first of all giving our customers a secure and safe product that is entertaining.”
