The summer schedule of the 45th annual World Series of Poker has been released, and the impressive 65 individual bracelet events were announced. The event will take place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, starting on May 27th.
The WSOP has a long legacy of over 40 years, giving professional and non-professional players equal opportunities to participate and win. Poker lovers can enjoy the WSOP tours both from the comfort of their home, as well as play in impressive poker rooms around the world.
Exiting opportunities for poker players
The 45th annual World Series of Poker tournament starts on May 27th
• The event will take place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada
• There will be 65 individual bracelet events
• The grand prize for the first-place winner at the Main event is $10 million guaranteed
The 2014 edition of the WSOP will operate under American gambling laws and it will be similar to last year’s event. There are few exceptions, the most significant of which being the grand prize of $10 million guaranteed for the first-place winner at the Main event.
Moreover, the afternoon happenings will take place one hour later, at 4 pm, so that players will be able to compete for 10 levels on Day 1. The major reason for that is to potentially downsize certain events to a handy number of players, allowing the eliminated participants to play the noon events on the following day.
This change was also necessary, as one of the most common criticisms from last year regarding the schedule was about the mixed-game events, which were usually offered at a $5,000 buy-in. This year, the majority of the mixed-game events will offer two tournaments. One of them will be at $1,500 and the other one at $10,000.
Jack Effel, the WSOP tournament Director, who is at this position for the last nine years, commented: “We have tweaked our schedule and feel very good about the opportunities it presents poker players of all levels.”
He added: “Now in its tenth consecutive year at the Rio, we believe operationally we have optimized the experience to provide players maximum choice and comfort and can’t wait to open the doors May 27.”
Exquisite variety of events
The variety of events offered by the WSOP can satisfy every taste and poker lovers, who have played countless games in various US poker rooms, have the opportunity to show off their skills and win fabulous awards.
The Millionaire Maker event ($1,500 buy-in) will be back for the opening weekend, striving to beat the last year’s score of 6,343 entrants. The event will include two starting flights, a single re-entry and the lucky winner will enjoy the fantastic minimum of $1 million prize.
The $10,000 buy-in Main event will have three starting days with the first one on July 5th. The structure for the event will be the same as in previous tournaments. Players will start with 30,000 in tournament chips and compete in two-hour stages. The November Nine will be back for the final table on November 10th and 11th.
The $1 million buy-in Big One For One Drop will return on June 29th and will be limited at 56 entries. The first-place prize is estimated to be around $20 million.
Ty Stewart, WSOP Executive director commented: “For ten years we have tried to raise the bar on tournament poker. There is real optimism 2014 can be our biggest year yet with an anticipated $200 million in prize money to be paid out this summer.”
He added: “With new satellites and daily tournaments exclusively on WSOP.com and a plethora of side events, there is more reason than ever to make the trip to poker Mecca.”
Even more opportunities
The Rio casino will also continue to host the Daily Deepstack tournaments at 3 pm, 6 pm and 10 pm in the Pavilion room. The Mega satellites at $75, $330 and $550 will also be held daily at 9 am, 5 pm and 8 pm.
Players can already start pre-registering for the 2014 WSOP. In person registration can be done at the Rio Main casino cage, starting on the March 1st.
