Thanks to the close connection between Stoke City and Bet365, it’s not surprise that they have agreed a stadium sponsorship deal
Stoke City have announced a new stadium sponsorship deal, to replace their current sponsors Britannia from the start of next season. The naming of Bet365 Stadium will come as no surprise to many, as the online sportsbook already sponsor Stoke City shirts. The club also announced plans to expand the stadium capacity to more than 30,000.
The Club, managed by Mark Hughes, sit in ninth position in the Barclays Premier League. They seem established in the division, with online sportsbook in the UK confident that they are not at risk of relegation next year, even if they sell some of their stars. Marco Arnautovic, Xherdan Shaqiri and Bojan are all highly sought after, but even if one was sold the club would reinvest the profits.
Stadium Sponsorship deal consolidates close links between bet365 and Stoke City
The links between Stoke, who moved to their current stadium in 1997, and Bet 365 are very strong. The popular Sportsbook was created by Denise Coates, daughter of Stoke City chairman Peter Coates, in 2000. From being founded in a Stoke portakabin, it has grown to be one of the world’s largest betting companies, with revenues of over £5 billion.
John Coates, brother of Denise, is both joint Chief Executive of Bet365 and vice-chairman of Stoke City. He stated today that, “There’s no doubt Bet365 has benefitted enormously from the global exposure our shirt sponsorship deal agreement with the club has given us.”
He continued, “We have been looking to extend our portfolio of sports sponsorship and entering into a stadium naming rights agreement with Stoke City seemed a natural fit, especially as the city of Stoke-on-Trent is home to Bet365.”
