Saipan Electronic Gaming Bill Given Green Light

While mainland US gambling laws may have changed a short while ago, when of their dependencies is just about to follow suit, as the Saipan government has passed their electronic gaming bill by a vote of 14-5.

Saipan residents are still waiting for a casino gambling bill to get the go ahead from the Senate, however, as it is still waiting after being passed by the House of Representatives. Whatever happens, there is going to be gaming of one form or another on Saipan soon enough.

This piece of gambling news comes on the back of a strong push from Saipan senators to get the measure passed in order to reduce a deficit in the island’s budget. All of the details of the new laws are yet to be finalized, but when they are, the small island of Saipan will likely gain their own gambling industry.

The tiny island of Saipan – in the middle of the Pacific Ocean – is part of the Northern Mariana Islands, and is actually far closer to Asia than the US. Despite this, it is an unincorporated territory of America, much like Guam.

The news comes as mainland US gears up for the launch of online gaming in October and November. New Jersey is due to launch a full suite of online casinos on November 23rd, while Halloween will see the launch of Delaware’s first real money gambling, when their poker room goes live.

All in all, 2013 is proving to be a year of major upheaval for gambling around the world. With major law changes in Europe, the US, and even in Asia, there are massive changes afoot, and it all signals the start of a new era for the gambling industry. Not least because of the rise in mobile casinos.
