The Olympic champions from Rio, Sime Fantela and Igor Marenic will attack the throne on the Sailing world cup in Qingdao

The Sailing World Cup series return! After the fabulous performances on the Rio Olympic the top sailors are ready for the two final events in the Sailing World Cup for this year. What awaits us in September are the regattas in Qingdao where we will again witness some of the most attractive sailing action in the world. For the fans of high skilled sailing techniques or simply for all of you who like to sit in front of the TV and bet on sports in China, the upcoming Qingdao regattas are definitely something that should not be missed.

The history behind the ISAF Sailing World Cup

The ISAF World Cup was a way for the International sailing organization to raise the events in this sport on a top level. This was also an opportunity for the audience to become more aware of the attraction and the excitement that sailing regattas can offer. The beginnings thus of the World Cup date back to the season 2008/09 when the competition was comprised by the major regattas such as the ones in Miami, Melbourne, Trofeo SAR Princesa Sofia in Palma de Majorca, Semaine Olympique Francaise in Hyeres and the Delta Lloyd Regattas in Medelmblik.

Nowadays this schedule is a bit changed with Melbourne, Miami and the French races in Hyeres remaining on the World Cup map while the new destinations added are Weymouth & Portland as well as Chinese Qingdao. What awaits us in the next week is the sailing regattas in the Yellow Sea in Qingdao, one of the venues at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 which will be the penultimate regattas for this year’s Sailing World Cup.

As internet betting sites in UK note, the classes in which the sailors compete are the characteristic one for the Olympic competitions. Thus, for women there are 4 World Cup events in the classes: Laser Radial, RS:X, 49erFX, 470. For men there are five events in the classes: RS:X, 49er, Laser, 470 and Finn. As usual, one mix-gendered event also takes place in the World Cup program. That is the Nacra 17 class which together with the acrobatic RS:X are one of the greatest attraction for sailing fans and all of those who bet on sports in US on the World Cup. The mode of the Olympic competitions is usually in a fleet race format although there have been in the past match race and mix format as well.

• Qingdao: penultimate World Cup regattas for this year

• Fantela and Marenic go for another World Cup win

• Rijsselberghe or Dempsey: the dilemma in RS:X

The World Cup Qingdao regatta: interesting duels to watch
In the middle of the past June, the top 30 sailors in World Sailing’s Fleet racing rankings were invited to take participation on the World Cup regatta in Quingado. Racing across the ten Olympic fleers starts on 21st of September with the medal races closing the event on 25th of September. The previous event in Weymouth & Portland proved once again the domination of the Olympic champions from Rio, Sime Fantela and Igor Marenic in the World Cup. The Croats won the 470 race which was their second consecutive victory in the World Cup after the one on the regattas in Hyeres. Whether their greatest rivals Mathew Belcher and William Ryan will take the throne from them is something we are about to see.

Another interesting duel will be the one in the RS:X class for men between the golden Dutch from Rio, Dorian van Rijsselberghe and Nick Dempsey, who ended up second at the Rio Olympics. However, as online sportsbooks in the Netherlands stress, if we add to these two favorites, the winners from the regattas in Hyeres and Weymouth, the Polish sailor, Piotr Myszka, and the German, Toni Wilhelm, who come in good shape in Qingdao, then we have enough reasons to say that absolutely every scenario concerning the winner is open in this RS:X category.
