Getting into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum is a pretty big deal for artists in the business. The museum does not just keep documentation of the history of rock music. It also features all the artists, producers, engineers, and other important figures of the music business. So, it is not a surprise that every year before inducting the new figures, there is a big fuzz around the topic. Let us see who has a chance to be one of the characters in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.
The famous museum in Cleveland, Ohio, US, already houses the greatest musicians of all time. Elvis Presley, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Etta James, Bob Marley, David Bowie, and the Pink Floyd are in. So is Michael Jackson, the Queen, Madonna, the Metallica, the Nirvana, the Green Day, Tupac Shakur, and Depeche Mode. But the list broadens with every year. In 2021 they announced 16 nominees on 10th February, who all stand a chance in joining this remarkable team. As for now, we can only be guessing who will be the lucky ones to be inducted in May 2021. And if already guessing, you can also place your bets on online sportsbooks in the US, like Bovada.
Who can be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2021?
To be eligible for nomination, artists or bands must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 before the year of their nomination. They also need to have influence and significance in the development and perpetuation of rock and roll music. Though in the last couple of years many musicians of other genres are on the run. And this year, we can see a diversity in the nominations we have never seen before. It is like the Rock Hall’s voting body bent for the criticisms about them being tilted towards white, male classic rock artists. So, in 2021 the nominees are more varied – musically and also demographically – than ever. For example, there are 7 women or women-fronted nominees. Also, not only traditional rock represents itself. We can see rap, Afrobeat, pop, metal, and R&B musicians as well.
