Robbers Target Atlantic City Casino and Get Away With It

Armed robbers broke into Caesars Hotel and Casino, took $180,000 in cash and then managed to escape by car.

Two gunmen robbed the Caesars casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Local gambling news say the masked men broke into the venue and took more than $180,000 with them. A bulletin distributed by the police explained that they managed to flee the scene, using a car, early in the morning.

Authorities are investigating the case to find out how the incident happened and to track down the robbers. Under American gambling laws, the State Police Casino Gaming Bureau has jurisdiction over casino floors and took over from the Atlantic City police, which is mostly responsible with monitoring other public areas of the hotel.

Easy escape

In Atlantic City, Caesars owns and runs a high-rise building which takes up an entire block between the boardwalk and Pacific Avenue. The hotel has a casino and is located between two side streets, Arkansas and Missouri avenues. Considering the building’s location, the perpetrators had easy access to a vehicle and they took advantage of this.

The resort includes a casino, hotel, spa, as well as multiple restaurants and entertainment facilities, all located inside the massive building. Police officers suspect the robbery may have happened in the casino area.
