SuperLive Golf betting product becomes available at British online sportsbooks in time for the PGA British Open.
With just two days left until the new champion is crowned in the prestigious golfing tournament The Open, all eyes are on the Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake. Naturally, besides all the pro golfers and spectators, there’s a large crowd of punters betting on the event under British gambling laws.
But online sports betting operators and software providers who serve online sportsbooks in the United Kingdom are already looking in to the future. Metric Gaming has been able to come up with a brand new betting product – SuperLive Golf, which was already live in time for the PGA British Open.
The sports betting application is already available at one of the sports betting sites operated by the renowned Bonnier gambling group. Other destinations are also expected to offer SuperLive Golf to those who bet on sports in the United Kingdom in the very near future.

• SuperLive Golf is already available at some online sportsbooks in the UK
• Besides a long list of betting offers the product delivers great interactivity
• PGA British Open moves on to the second round today
SuperLive Golf comes in the wake of Metric Gaming’s SuperLive Football. The football betting application naturally enjoyed great popularity during the tournament in Brazil making it one of the most popular apps in World Cup betting history, and is expected to retain popularity as the new football season is scheduled to kick off in less than a month’s time in Europe.
SuperLive Golf is a comprehensive betting product offering great levels of match interaction to online bettors. It offers over four hundred betting opportunities per round. The app follows selected marquee groups and offering betting possibilities on the widest array of markets.
Betting offers at SuperLive Golf include such markets as total combined group score, who will win the hole, individual player offers with stroke-by-stroke wagering.
Comments from the operators
Head of Sports for Bonnier Group Malta Ltd. has confirmed that their sports betting subsidiary has the SuperLive Golf product available for the PGA British Open. He invites their members to take full advantage of the innovative application to enjoy its entertaining and engaging betting features.
Bonnier Gaming AB Chief Executive Officer, Andreas Ternstom, had the following comments for the media: “SuperLive will change the very complexion of the in-game wagering industry, becoming the new gold standard in live betting. Today, live betting is almost never truly “live” as bettors must typically still wait for final match results before their wagers are graded. SuperLive changes all of that allowing in-game betting to finally reach its full potential.”
Metric Gaming is also planning to introduce SuperLive products aimed at further sports, according to their chairman Peter Bertilsson. He also stressed that SuperLive Golf will be available on desktop platform, as well as smartphone and tablet one.
PGA British Open standing
Round 1 of The Open is over at Royal Liverpool and Rory McIlroy is in the comfortable lead atop the leaderboard. He completed half his six birdies on the par 5s, and managed to keep bogeys off his scorecard. Yesterday also saw Tiger Woods making a promising comeback to 3-under 69. McIlroy, however is leading with 6-under 66, his best score at majors in nearly two years.
McIlroy commented: “It’s not like I’ve shot good scores in first rounds and haven’t backed them up before. I’m used to doing that. I just haven’t done it recently. We’ll see what tomorrow brings and what weather it is and try and handle it as best I can. Hopefully, it’s just one of those things and I’m able to turn it around tomorrow.”
Tiger Woods is most certainly looking to build upon yesterday’s success and continue moving towards the top of the leaderboard. His troubling start was offset by five birdies in six holes, when everyone understood just why he is the 14-time major champion. Woods commented: “It felt good to be back out there competing again.”
Of course there are over 150 contestants, but the eyes of the golfing world are on McIlroy and Woods, quite understandably. Both golfing pros are trying to reach their best game, but from completely different circumstances.
McIlroy had only managed a single victory this year – at the BMW PGA Championship, which incidentally came in the same week he announced his engagement to Caroline Wozniacki was broken off. He did have more chances to win, but he will probably try to forget his performances at the Players Championship, Quail Hollow, and the Memorial.
He’s only wish right now is not to get derailed from the winning track in the second round of the Open. His yearly statistics are currently at 55-under par in the first round, and 15-over par in the second one. Naturally, he’d be dreading today’s performance.
Tiger Woods started his comeback with a 30-foot putt from off the green at 11th hole. He went on to hit an amazing approach to just 6 feet before a birdie on the 12th. This shot took him under-par for the first time since March 9th at Doral. But that was his last tournament before returning from a back surgery three weeks ago and participating in the Congressional.
Woods has picked up a fantastic rhythm late into the first round, and it seemed he wanted to keep going. Hopefully he can bring this desire over to today’s round 2.
