It is said that the venue will have between 150 and 175 rooms.

The Port Authority of Kansas City is planning to build a new hotel on the riverfront property leased by Isle of Capri Casino. Rumors about the project emerged on Wednesday, at a luncheon sponsored by the Kansas City Downtowners.

According to recent gambling news, the information was confirmed by company spokeswoman Marissa Cleaver Wamble, who wrote: “The Port Authority of Kansas City is pursuing and working cooperatively with our anchor tenant, Isle of Capri, to build a hotel within the leased property of the casino.”

Details still to be discussed

Under American gambling laws, the license to develop a business on the leased property was issued to Island of Capri Casino, so the Port Authority needs to work together with the casino developer, in order to implement its project. According to Wamble, company representatives will meet next week to discuss further details of the plan.

“Development along Kansas City’s riverfront is of the utmost importance to the Port Authority. That’s why we’ve hired Lane4 (Property Group) to help market the Isle of Capri site and Cassidy Turley to market the Berkley Riverfront Development site. We hope to have more information to share very soon.”

Rumor has it the hotel will include 150 to 175 rooms. With the Richard Berkley Riverfront Park right next the existing casino and the new hotel, Kansas City will certainly become more attractive for tourists and gamblers.
