Poker Professional Joins the Show “Survivor”

Garrett Adelstein, professional poker player from Arizona, was selected to join the new season of the TV reality “Survivor” and to become part of the “Brains Tribe”.

He isn’t the first poker pro to be part of the show – Jean-Robert Bellande was also at a deserted island back in 2007. Adelstein, a 27-year-old living in Santa Monica, won more than $120,000 in his live tournament career.

One of his best performances was in 2010 during the World Series of Poker main event, which followed all American gambling laws, and he finished within the top 250 players.

Adelstein wants to impress LA girls with his Survivor adventure

Adelstein, who won most of his money at US online poker rooms, explained in his Survivor bio that the reason behind his participation is to: “win enough money to impress girls in LA”, as well as for “self-growth as I will be forced to deal with extreme circumstances in a way I never imagined possible.”

He commented that he has been preparing himself very serious for the contest, spending more than 2,000 hours in training. Adelstein added: “Being a math guy, I’m just gonna go with the odds on this one as it would be statistically unlikely for me to be the first American survivor to die on the island. With that said, I’m sure I will be completely miserable.”
