In almost all societies gambling enjoys a pretty wide array of popularity. Gambling has also been around for quite some time with some documents indicating its presence thousands of years ago.
There are a few games that are quite popular and seem to gain in popularity at a pretty continuous rate. Blackjack is a game that is surmised to have seen its early form and France, a long development in the U.S. and then a huge gain in popularity worldwide. No form of gambling, however, has yet taken the world by storm like poker.
The most recent haven that’s seen poker blossom is none other than the Czech Republic. Czech gambling laws embraced this passionate pastime and in turn have been rewarded greatly in the form of tax revenue.
In the last few years over 160 poker rooms have been registered in the Czech Republic and some of them can boast having over 2,000 members. Also, there are a few dozen people throughout the country that make a living out of the great game, something that was unheard of just a few years ago.
Internet gambling in the Czech Republic is one of the sources to the games new found popularity. Last December, the European Poker Tour was held in Prague and one of the nation’s own rose victorious. Jan Skampa was able to finish well in the tournament and made a jaw-dropping €682,000 at just age 23.
Skampa also got his start through online poker in the Czech Republic, but advises those who are new not to expect to make a lot of money from it. Poker combines both skill and luck and takes a lot of practice.
