Poker Brings Less Profit For Nevada Casinos in 2013

Nevada casinos reported $152,746,688 million revenue from live and online poker in the fiscal year 2013.

Internet gambling in Nevada was introduced on 30th April 2013, therefore the fiscal year figure includes only around two months of online poker activities. Nevada Gaming Control Board commented that online poker revenues were insignificant compared to the fiscal year poker revenue. It is important to mention that only one online poker site in Nevada was functioning during that time.

Ultimate Poker was the first poker operator in the US history to gain online providing privileges under the American gambling laws. Currently, only Ultimate Poker and the World Series of Poker are in this business.

Constant decrease in poker revenues is observed in the last years

The $152.7 million represents a decrease from 2012 fiscal year when poker revenue was $160,909,393, before the introduction of online poker. In addition to the revenue, the number of poker rooms is also dropping as Circus Circus Las Vegas and M Resort both closed theirs in 2013.

Live poker in Nevada generated $123,253,000 during the calendar 2012, which was part of $10.86 billion in total gaming revenue, and also a 6.54% decline from 2011. Furthermore, it was the smallest amount since 2004.

Another state where online gambling was recently introduced, New Jersey, just reported that they had revenue of around $8.4 million during 2013. Poker brought around $3.2 million of that figure.
