Mobile casino game developer and software giant Playtech has been expanding like never before in recent times, and thanks to their partnership with Olympic Entertainment Group (OEG), they’re able to add Baltic success to their profit sheet.
After partnering with the Casino Olympic operators to offer games on their OlyBet platform in the Baltics, the online sportsbook and casino has had success in Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, as well as with Russian players who risk the fury of their government. The new gambling site has definitely helped Playtech improve its reach as it looks towards Eastern Europe.
Latvian Gambling Growth
One reason for the success has been the growth of gambling in Latvia. As Latvian gambling laws have recently undergone something of a refresh – they’d remained the same since online gambling was legalized in 2003 – gamblers have found their choice of site growing, almost daily.
While Belarus may gain most of the Russian casino tourism traffic, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania have all been expanding their efforts to bring this lucrative market into play. Indeed, the three Baltic states are well placed to take advantage of the gambling situation in Russia while their economies are on the up.
Whatever the future holds, there’s no doubt that gambling is expanding its reach throughout the world, and not just in more traditional hot-spots. With Latvia playing host to a lot of the world’s live dealer studios – thanks to the presence of market leader Evolution Gaming in capital Riga – the Baltics are definitely an up and coming region.
