Pennsylvania Online Gambling Bill Passes House

The bill that would legalize casino-style gambling at airports, mobile applications and online was passed by the House of Representatives.

After months of debate, the Pennsylvania online gambling bill was passed by the House of Representatives on June 28th. According to US gambling news, the bill would expand gambling to airports, applications and online interfaces. The bill includes measures for daily fantasy sports, online gambling, slot machines at airports, off-track slot machines, and sports betting in Pennsylvania. The bill’s future is now in the hands of the Pennsylvania Senate.

Daily Fantasy Sports in Pennsylvania

The state would regulate and license online daily fantasy sports in Pennsylvania for 5 percent tax rate on in-state profits. The bill includes consumer protection measures as well, for example age verification.

Online gambling in Pennsylvania

Licensed, land-based casino operators would be offered a chance to expand their business to mobile and online interfaces for a USD 8 million license fee. Mobile based gambling would be allowed only at airports and taxed at a 34 percent rate. Online casinos would be available in the whole state and skimmed at a 14 percent rate.

Sports betting in Pennsylvania

If the senate passes the bill, brick-and-mortar casinos would be allowed to offer sports betting services both off- and online when it becomes legal on a federal level.
