The 2022-2023 NBA Preseason will last from September 30 until October 15. Following the numerous games in this period, the season will officially begin on October 19. The two-season openers will feature the Celtics, 76ers, Warriors, and Lakers. Traditionally, title predictions already start emerging during the offseason, and thus the reasoning for this article. However, the early NBA title predictions can be very divisive and often inaccurate. For example, before the start of the last season, the Lakers and Nets were the title favorites. The former didn’t even make the playoffs and the latter got swept in the 1st round.

The early NBA Title Predictions Favor Champions Golden State

Reigning champions Golden State Warriors are the early NBA title favorites. The Warriors secured their 4th title in 8 years, after beating the Boston Celtics 4-2 in the Finals. If you followed our betting tips during the Finals, you might remember how online sportsbook sites in the US considered the Warriors to be the underdogs until the very end. After enduring two injury-ridden seasons between 2019 and 2021, Golden State is looking strong.

Iguodala will return for his 19th and final NBA season, but there were other additions as well. The Warriors picked up seven free agents in the offseason but none of them look like long-term investments so far. Donte DiVincenzo might be one to watch out for, especially in the Preseason. Looney also re-signed with the Warriors, keeping last year’s championship squad somewhat more intact. On Bet Online, the odds of Golden State winning the title again are +575.

Boston’s Fate Hangs in the air with the Suspension of Their Head Coach

Boston put up an impressive playoff run last season. They beat the Nets, Bucks, and Heat before they were eliminated by the Warriors in the Finals. The Celtics’ young core has been regarded as one of the best in the league in recent years. That young core took the team to four Conference Finals in six years, but they only reached the Finals once. Their most impressive transaction in the offseason was acquiring Malcolm Brogdon from Indiana.

However, the situation in Boston is cloudy. Rumors suggest that Jaylen Brown will not remain with the organization for long and head coach Ime Udoka has been suspended for the entire 2022-2023 season. With the current situation, it feels like Boston’s title chances should be lower. Even though they were runners-up last season, giving them odds of +600 for the title feels like a premature decision. Be that as may, we don’t think the Celtics are going back to the Finals this season.

Giannis and the Bucks are Looking to Get Back to the Finals

Milwaukee went to great lengths in the offseason to re-sign many of their key players from last season. These include Bobby Portis, Wesley Matthews, Pat Connaughton, and Serge Ibaka. Additionally, Giannis doesn’t become a free agent until 2026 but his stance on staying might not be crystal clear. A few months ago, online sportsbook news in the US reported that the superstar might be open to a move to Chicago in the near future.

But the previews regarding the Bucks’ 2022-2023 are looking good. According to most bookies, they’re the 3rd favorites to win the Larry O’Brien Trophy, as per early NBA title predictions. Their odds to do so are +700, which seems fair. Milwaukee also waived multiple players in the summer but picked up Joe Ingles as a free agent. As of late September, the Bucks are looking strong. Giannis and co. have a good chance of going back to the Finals this season.

The Brooklyn Nets and Chaos Eternal – Early NBA title Predictions

Brooklyn’s most notable summer signings have been T.J. Warren and Markieff Morris. The Nets also re-signed Patty Mills which is a smart move, in case Kyrie goes missing again. On paper, this is one of the best teams in the league, as it was last season. But in reality, the Nets are a time bomb, waiting to explode at the worst possible moment. Both Durant and Irving caused massive drama in the offseason as neither player’s decision on the future was clear. For now, it seems the issue has been resolved both stars intend to stay in Brooklyn.

Then we have Ben Simmons, who still hasn’t played since June 20, 2021. Bet Online has Brooklyn’s early NBA title odds at +750. Odds on other sportsbook sites range between +700 and +800. So far, the Nets’ situation is very similar to last season. They start as title favorites in the Preseason and then end up nowhere near the Finals. We’d recommend passing on placing any title bets on Brooklyn right now.

Clippers Reignite Their Chances with the Return of Kawhi

The Clippers are the 5th favorites for the title this season. They’re also the last team whose odds are below +1000. On most online sportsbook sites in the US, the Clippers’ early NBA title odds are close to +750, similar to Brooklyn’s. After completely missing the playoffs last season, the team is looking better before the start of the Preseason. Kawhi is looking healthy ahead of training camp, but the team has released a statement that they will be cautious about how they use the 2-time Finals MVP.

It’s also worth mentioning that the Clippers re-signed Robert Covington, Amir Coffey, Nicolas Batum, and Ivica Zubac in the summer. Furthermore, John Wall has also arrived in LA. The basketball world eagerly waits to see how the veteran guard will perform this season. Things are starting to look good in LA and the team has a great chance of making the playoffs with Kawhi back at the helm. As for the early NBA title predictions, we don’t think the Clippers are clear.
