Online Gambling in New Jersey Sees Huge Increase

Online gambling in New Jersey saw a 28% increase in the first quarter of 2016, bringing in a total of USD 44,9 million.

In gambling news, New Jersey’s Department of Gaming Enforcement has released the gaming revenue results for the first quarter of 2016. The figures show a 27,7% increase in online gambling revenues from the corresponding period in 2015. The total internet gaming win was USD 44,9 million, almost 10 million more than last year. The total gaming win was USD 598 million, which is also a huge growth from last year’s USD 580 million.

Borgata was the most popular New Jersey online casino, followed by Caesars Interactive NJ, while Tropicana took the third place. Roger Gros, publisher of Global Gaming Business, believes that “there is a bright future ahead in ‘I-gaming’ in New Jersey.” According to Gros, the growth is the result of improved online casinos and the players’ familiarity with the concept. “It is not so onerous to get online and gamble. So you are going to see it happening more and more over the next few years for sure.”

Online gambling in New Jersey on rise

The New Jersey online gambling bill, allowing for internet casinos in the state, was signed into law by Governor Chris Christine on February 26, 2013. The law set a 10-year trial period for online casinos in New Jersey. Furthermore, only New Jersey Based, brick-and-mortar are allowed to open an internet gaming site.
