The final table is set, and right now is the perfect time to place your bet on the 2017 World Series of Poker winner!
The 2017 World Series of Poker Main Event began on July 8th. More than 7,200 players took part this year, the most of any tournament since 2010. After 12 days, only nine players remain, with the winner taking an incredible $8,150,000 cash grand prize.
Those looking to bet on the 2017 World Series of Poker will find the best odds at NetBet Sportsbook. Let’s take a look at which of the finalists are coming in as the betting favorites and underdogs.
Scott Blumstein: 3.00
25 year old Scott Blumstein’s plan was simple. Skip all the smaller WSOP events and head straight to the Main Event. That strategy appears to have paid off, as he’s now the 2017 World Series of Poker winner betting favorite with 27% of all the chips heading into the final.
2017 WSOP betting favorites
- Scott Blumstein: 3.00
- John Hesp: 4.00
- Benjamin Pollak: 6.00
- Bryan Picciolo: 9.00
- Antoine Saout: 10.00
Blumstein only began playing about four years ago, but has already earned a reputation as a serious player. By day four he had already accumulated more than $2 million in chips. He earned his key hand in day 6 with a massive winning hand against Valentin Messina.
The final table is filled with veteran players from around the world, but Scott Blumstein is riding some serious momentum. Almost all online sportsbooks in the UK list Scott as the favorite, and with his playing so far it’s likely the safest bet on the 2017 World Series of Poker winner. Blumstein’s odds to win are set at 3.00.
John Hesp: 4.00
Englishman John Hesp holds the second highest amount of chips heading into the 2017 WSOP final, and is unsurprisingly one of the betting favorites to win. Hesp is a 64 year old grandfather of 7, with very little big tournament experience, mostly playing £10 tables in his local casino in Hull.
His style and humor have made him a fan favorite, but it’s his playing ability that’s made him one of the best options to bet on the 2017 World Series of Poker winner. Hesp’s biggest hand came in day 5, after calling Wen Zhou’s hand with a two-pair to win a massive $900,000 pot.
Like Blumstein, this is the first WSOP tournament that Hesp has entered into. And just the same, he’s one of the betting favorites to win this year. Some poker betting experts are wondering how John will play under the biggest stage in the world, but there are no signs that he’ll let the pressure get to him. At the moment, NetBet Sportsbook lists Hesp’s odds to win the WSOP at 4.00.
Benjamin Pollak: 6.00
Benjamin Pollak is a well-known veteran in the poker community, but he hasn’t fared great in previous WSOP tournaments, with his best results being a 27th spot finish in 2013. It seems his years of experience have paid off now, as he holds the third most chips (9.8%) heading into the final table.
Pollak’s run has made UK gambling news headlines for his incredible performance in day 5. Entering with just 218,000 chips, he managed to make more than 12 million in just two hours, telling the media it was “the biggest rush I’ve had in the last 10 years. I got a lot of value hands and got paid most of the time.”
Call it skill, or experience, or just plain luck. The fact remains that Pollak is now one of the best players to bet on the 2017 World Series of Poker, and has a real shot at becoming the first Frenchman to ever win. At the moment, Pollak’s odds to win are set at 6.00.
