Seven down, two to go – Belgium casino licenses are running out
The number of online casinos in Belgium has increased by one with the recent launch of JackpotParty’s local site, thereby widening the legal gambling options available to local players.
An online casino brand of US-based WMS Industries, JackpotParty enjoyed much success in the UK before expanding to this new market.
“Over the last several years, we have developed our online gaming operational and product expertise and our proof-of-concept has been confirmed as a best-in-class offering for the interactive gaming market through our UK-facing JackpotParty [site],” said WMS Industries President Orrin Edidin.
Since Belgian gambling laws mandate online operators to hold a land-based casino license as well, WMS teamed up with Groupe Partouche. The leading French casino company also operates brick-and-mortar establishments in Belgium.
Since the relatively recent legalization of online gambling in the country, several companies have been issued licenses to operate online, with WMS getting theirs.
According to Edidin, JackpotParty “delivers to players the convenience of playing at home in addition to playing at the casino.” This also means that at this stage there is no mobile casino gambling option available as of yet.
In a newly legalized market, such as Belgium, this may not need to be such an urgent priority, however. Having the online casino up and running and assuring that everything goes smoothly can lay the groundwork for further offerings.
“As our first iGaming business-to-business execution, the launch of JackpotParty.be in association with Groupe Partouche is an important milestone in the execution of our online gaming strategy and expansion plans representing a natural and seamless extension of our proven content and services platform that clearly highlight the benefits derived from the convergence of the online and land-based gaming distribution channels,” said the WMS Persident.
Partouche Chairman Fabrice Paire was also upbeat. “The launch of our online casino is an exciting milestone for our business,” said he, adding that the new casino “establishes the Partouche brand as the premier benchmark in online gaming and entertainment options in Belgium.”
