Netherlands Gambling Tax Could Be Unified in New Gambling Laws

After the idea of reduced online gambling tax rate, members of the Dutch parliament are backing a uniformed Netherlands gambling tax now.

The Netherlands are waiting for their first ever modern gambling laws. Current laws regulating gambling date back 50 years, so they really need a new bill handling gambling in the Netherlands. First the government planned to use Netherlands gambling tax rates reduced to 20% for online gambling activities but this idea was dropped recently.

The point of the reduced online gambling tax rates was to help internet gambling operators licensed in Holland against unlicensed websites. However, in the new proposal discussing Netherlands gambling tax, there is a uniformed gambling tax.

Netherlands gambling tax could be lowered after three years

Dutch casino monopoly Holland Casino and arcade owners are charged with a 29% Netherlands gambling tax currently. However, according to the plans, the new, uniformed Netherlands gambling tax will be 29% for both land-based and online gambling operators. This amount is planned to be reduced to 25% three years after online gambling in the Netherlands had been legalized.

There is no published agenda of legalizing online gambling in the Netherlands but according to Dutch gambling news, the new regulations can be ratified by this summer.
