The City of Dreams in Manila is set to open later this year. It promises to offer an integrated entertainment experience with family-friendly activities in addition to gambling.
Melco Crown has made gambling news by separating itself from the crowd.
It will provide a family-friendly attraction to visitors to its resort at Entertainment City in Manila.
The company’s City of Dreams resort casino will include Dreamplay, an attraction provided by American animation studio Dreamworks. While it’s unclear exactly how Dreamplay will function, the studio announced that it will feature beloved characters like Shrek and Po from Kung Fu Panda.
Melco Crown Philippines chairman Clarence Chung touted Dreamplay as an integral part of the resorts diverse entertainment offering:
“Our collaboration with DreamWorks is a further illustration of our expertise in developing world-class, innovative and ground-breaking entertainment for leisure seekers both in the Philippines and internationally.”

Filipino gambling laws were revised in 2006 to allow private companies to invest in the casino market. That opened the doors for Entertainment City, a district of Manila which optimistic investors hope can eventually rival Macau.
City of Dreams is one of the largest and most expensive projects in Entertainment City and is set to open in the summer of 2014, joining Solaire to form the country’s two largest casinos.
