Meghan Markle’s children book predictions emerged as soon as the Duchess of Sussex announced its release in summer 2021. What can one expect from The Bench aka Meghan’s first post-royal creation?
Meghan Markle is releasing her debut children’s book this summer. The Duchess announced The Bench – this is how the book is titled – to be out on June 8. What else do we know about Meghan’s debut novel to this point?
The Bench: a book by Meghan Markle
The release of The Bench is scheduled for June 2021 but there is already pretty much information about the book. Primarily, thanks to Meghan Markle, who shared the details about her debut novel earlier this month.
Following her words, The Bench was inspired by Meghan’s family: her husband Prince Harry, and son Archie. The book was initially a short poem she wrote for Prince Harry on Father’s Day. Meghan wrote the poem when her son was one year old. Later, it developed into a full-fledged story. According to the woman’s words, the book focuses on a bond between a father and a son seen through a mother’s eyes.
Random House Children’s Books will publish The Bench, while Christian Robinson is the book’s illustrator. Meghan Markle will also be a narrator of the audiobook edition later this year. All this led to online sportsbooks in Canada making predictions about the possible success of the book and awards it can win in the future.
Meghan Markle’s children book predictions
Will Markle become a successful author? What are her chances to flop with her debut book? Will the Duchess win awards for The Bench? All these questions were on everyone’s lip as soon as Meghan Markle announced her novel to be published. This is not a surprise because this is Meghan’s first post-royal activity and her first attempt to live independently from the Crown’s money. So, what awaits a beginner author when she is a Duchess of Sussex?
Predictably, Meghan Markle’s children book predictions look quite optimistic. For instance, 22Bet Sportsbook supposes that The Bench will become a New York Times Bestseller and we have no reason to doubt it. The novel is highly likely to be a hit as people will be interested in evaluating Markle’s writing skills. To say nothing about critics willing to earn on Meghan’s name and popularity.
Apart from high demand, The Bench can be nominated for several literary awards. It is likely to get a nomination for the Caldecott Medal next year. The Golden Kite Awards which recognizes excellence in children’s literature can also nominate the Duchess and her debut novel. Also, Markle is highly likely to win the 2022 Coretta Scott King Award with 3.00 odds.
Meghan Markle is not the first celebrity to release a children’s book. This is quite a common practice among famous musicians, actors, athletes, and politicians. In previous years, the most popular children’s books were written by Jimmy Fallon, Octavia Spencer, Julianne Moore, Kristen Bell, Lupita Nyong’o, Koby Bryant, Pharrell Williams, Ricky Martin, Kelly Clarkson, and Barack Obama.
