Only a week after the sport's return to the famous Paul Ricard Circuit for the French Grand Prix the F1 circus skips across Europe to Spielberg where Mercedes have won for the last four years in a row, but does that mean Lewis Hamilton is the best wager of the weekend at Unibet or should you bet on the Austrian Grand Prix to be the race Max Verstappen rubs the noses of the media in it just a little bit more? We take a look at which will be the best bet on sports in Austria this Sunday.

  • Can Max Verstappen silence his critics once and for all in Spielberg?
  • Will Daniel Ricciardo beat the 8/1 odds he’s getting and win in Austria?
  • Should you bet on the Austrian Grand Prix to be a Mercedes win again?
  • Are the 14/1 odds Kimi Raikkonen an each way wager dream come true?

In the staid PR controlled world of F1 press conferences the post French Grand Prix encounter saw the Formula One media as a whole get bitch slapped by a 20 year old racing driver called Max Verstappen who has the temerity to actually race what the media see as his elders and betters. When Max makes a mistake trying to overtake he’s an unthinking danger to everyone and everything, when Sebastian Vettel does precisely the same thing, it’s a racing incident. The first lap clash in France just highlighted it.

“Next time you see Seb you should ask him to change his style, y’know?” Said Max Verstappen managing to absolutely drench his words in biting sarcasm despite speaking in a foreign language to the young Dutchman, “Because, honestly, it’s not acceptable.” Throwing their own curses back in their faces daring them to be as mean-spirited and critical of the veteran Vettel was no more than the press deserved but you can bet on the Austrian Grand Prix coverage to be less than flattering for Max now.

Max Verstappen Sarcastically Pops At The Press Post France

“That’s what they said to me at the beginning of the season, so I think they should do the same! [to Vettel]” Continued Max, adding wryly, “And then, of course, Seb shouldn’t do anything, and just drive again and learn from this and go on. That’s my advice to everyone in this room.” Guaranteeing that you can bet on the Austrian Grand Prix reports to dwell on his every error, and if you’re Austrian gambling news men will learn their lesson and not be quite so jealous of his youth and money, think again.

The press don’t like Max Verstappen because he’s young, ambitious, and will still be contesting F1 World Championship titles when everyone writing and talking about him in the media is long dead. The old men of F1 dislike that and it shows in their constant hectoring and criticism of a chap just doing his job. Still this does mean if you bet on the Austrian Grand Prix and back Max on sites like Unibet you can feel a tad rebellious, railing against the F1 man, as it were, but if he slips up they’ll be all over him.

Bet On The Austrian Grand Prix At Unibet Today

  • Anyone Else – 500/1+
  • Kimi Raikkonen – 14/1
  • Valtteri Bottas – 13/2
  • Daniel Ricciardo – 8/1
  • Max Verstappen – 8/1
  • Sebastian Vettel – 5/2
  • Lewis Hamilton – 1/1

You can pretty much bet on the Austrian Grand Prix being a Mercedes win, they’ve triumphed here four times in the last four years, and it seems unlikely the Ferrari or Red Bull cars will have the power needed to keep up with the silver arrows, however in the chaos of the first corner, a lovely almost 90 degree right hander, who can say who’ll come out in tact. It was Bottas that got the win here last year, with Vettel second and Daniel Ricciardo third, could history repeat itself? The bookies don’t think so.

Under liberal Austrian gambling laws Unibet will give you just 13/2 on Valtteri Bottas winning here again, his teammate, Lewis Hamilton, getting Evens to take victory ahead of Sebastian Vettel at 5/2. Both the Red Bulls, Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo get 8/1 each with Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen getting 14/1 which is a very tempting each way wager given his recent form. So is Max Verstappen the best bet on the Austrian Grand Prix or just the most attractive now he’s the rebel with a cause? We’ll see.
