• PSG looking to beat Caen and improve their standing
• Montpellier will play Monaco away on Saturday night
French gambling news reports that PSG will have a chance to regain the top spot against Caen on Saturday afternoon, while Lens will go head to head with Evian Thonon Gaillard. Lille will host Nice in a game that will bear some degree of uncertainty regarding the results, considering their performances in recent times. And lastly, Montpellier will play against Monaco away.
PSG vs Caen and Lens vs Evian Thonon Gaillard
Les Parisiens are the current defending champions of Ligue 1, however this season they have blundered one too many times which has resulted in them now occupying 3rd place on the table. At home they have been pretty good (8 wins and 3 draws), however looking at their expensively assembled squad they should have done even better. Nevertheless, as they gear up to play against Caen they are the absolute favorites 1.25 (1/4), per Bet365.
Caen are a completely different story with them being in 14th position and having only 27 points from 24 games so far. Despite clinching a low place in the league they have managed to record only 1 loss and 4 straight wins over the last 5 games, so their form is amazing. However, Bet365 doesn’t believe that they have the ability to beat PSG away and have therefore given them outsider odds 12.00 (11/1), while a draw is also unlikely 6.00 (5/1).
Lens will face an uncertain battle against Evian Thonon Gaillard at home and looking at their individual records the game easily go in either way at any moment. Lens sit in 19th position and is they don’t manage to crawl out of the bottom of the league soon it will be too later. While playing on their own ground they won 3 games, while the rest of the matches ended in 3 draws and 5 losses. Due to them playing at home, mobile betting sites rank them favorites 1.95 (10/11).
Evian have 1 more point than Lens who have 22 and they sit one place above them in 18th spot. While playing on the road they have endured some very difficult times by winning only twice, while all the other games ended in 10 losses. Therefore it makes sense for Bet365 to have given them underdog chances 4.20 (16/5) for this encounter. Perhaps a remote draw may also happen 3.40 (12/5), although a win for the hosts is more likely.
Lille vs Nice and Monaco vs Montpellier
Lille will host Nice on Saturday night where they will be looking to capitalize on playing on their own field. They currently find themselves sitting in 11th position with 31 points and their current form being 2 losses, 1 draw and 2 wins over the last 5 games. Bet365 firmly believes that they can pull off a win against Nice as they have been dealt favorite status 2.00 (1/1).
Nice on the other hand have been assigned unlikely chances 4.20 (16/5), despite being 3 places higher up the table (8th) than their upcoming opponents. Their form is also a little better than Lille’s during last 5 encounters (2 draws and 3 wins) and while on the road they have managed to record 4 wins, 2 draws and 5 losses. A draw between the two sides does not seem to be on the cards 3.20 (11/5), however a Lille will most likely win this game.
Monaco and Montpellier will go up against one another in the French Principality and looking at their recent performances in the league the former side will most likely clinch a victory. Monaco are 5th in the league and have recorded 5 wins, 5 draws and 2 losses while playing on the road, which is part of the reason why online sportsbooks in France favor them to win 1.67 (2/3).
Montpellier are the outsiders for this clash 6.00 (5/1) due to their results while playing away from home (3 wins, 5 draws and 4 losses) and the fact that they stand in 2 places below Monaco. In the last 5 games they have managed to record 1 loss, 2 draws and 2 wins, so a draw may also be on the cards for the game. Bet365 has set a tie between them at 3.50 (5/2), although Monaco should be able to take advantage of playing at home.
