A private helicopter thought to have been carrying Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha – the owner of Leicester City Football Club – has gone up in flames after crashing near the club’s stadium.

Leicester City are working together with the police in handling the incident

At this stage, the bodies in the wreckage of the helicopter have not yet been identified, with some earlier reports saying both the owner Srivaddhanaprabha and his daughter were among the dead of the crash.

Now it has been confirmed the daughter was not on board at the time, but various sources and online sportsbook news are expressing concern about the father, suggesting he was the one being transported with the helicopter before its unfortunate crash.

The club’s official website released an official statement about the helicopter crash, simply indicating that they’re cooperating with the authorities about the incident and that they’ll release more information about the matter once they have all the details. The statement doesn’t say any specifics as to the identities of the people involved in the crash, for the time being.

“We are assisting Leicestershire Police and the emergency services in dealing with a major incident at Kind Power Stadium. The Club will issue a more detailed statement once further information has been established.”

After the Leicester City v West Ham game on Saturday evening, the helicopter took off from the center of the pitch at the King Power stadium, as it often does after matches. BT Sport cameras even caught the helicopter taking off during the post-match discussions, and presenter Jake Humphrey commented on it with pundits Owen Hargreaves, Chris Sutton and John Hartson.

Soon afterwards however, a loud bang could be heard which was later identified as having resulted from the helicopter’s crash. It has been reported that it spiralled out of control and then crashed in a car park where it went up in flames.

LCFC became English champions in 205/16 thanks to the Thai owner

After taking over the club in 2010, Srivaddhanaprabha is credited with transforming the club into a side that managed to shock English football by winning the Premier League in 2015/16.

After 10 rounds in the Premier League this campaign, the Foxes sit in 12th position on the table having amassed only 13 points. They’ve won only four matches so far, with the other encounters in 1 draw (against West Ham) and five losses. It’s safe to say they’re a far cry from the team they were in the 2015/16 title-winning campaign that sent shockwaves throughout English football and the also the world for their historic achievement.

We don’t see them achieve that remarkable feat anytime soon, and we’re sure the news about the helicopter crash will leave mental consequences with the team as they try to cope with the sorrowful situation.

Leicester City will next face Cardiff City in on the road (Nov. 3), and providers of internet betting in UK are giving them favourite status to clinch the all-important 3 points from the match.
