After Martin Demichelis was charged with breaking betting regulations, Newcastle midfielder Jack Colback has also come under suspicion.
Judging by the performances of Newcastle’s midfield this season, it would not be a shock to learn there were players breaking betting regulations by gambling on their own team to lose. As such, reports that “ginger Pirlo” Jack Colback is under suspicion for gambling offenses are understandably believed, especially considering his missed chance against Aston Villa. However, according to UK gambling news, he is not accused of betting on Newcastle, and likely not even betting on the Premier League at all.
It is not surprising that the absence of any joy in Newcastle’s season led Colback to seek gratification elsewhere. online sportsbooks in the Uk have lots of great deals, and Colback can’t be blamed for enjoying the thrill of betting. However, it is forbidden for English Premier League footballers to bet on football anywhere in the world.
Footballers breaking betting regulations is a regular occurrence
Several notable footballers have been charged by the Football Association with breaking betting regulations in recent years. The case of Jack Colback comes hot on the heels of the charges against Martin Demichelis. The Argentinean accepted the charges, and the likelihood is that Colback will do the same. While Demichelis has not yet been punished, similar previous cases resulted in either short suspensions or fines.
Most notably, Colback’s Newcastle teammate was forced to miss the European U21 Championship in 2013. Former Newcastle midfielder Dan Gosling was also fined £30,000 for breaking betting regulations.
