World-Cup winning manager Joachim Low has been touted as the next potential replacement for Real Madrid, however the German has immediately dismissed reports linking him with that post, per online sportsbooks in Germany.
For the 2018 World Cup, Low keeps his aims high
After clinching three straight Champions League titles (2016-2018), Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has announcement that he’ll be departing the club which instantly opened up questions about his successor at the Bernabeu. And it’s none other than current Germany manager Low who emerged as one of the favourites for the job, but the 58-year-old has poured cold water on those Real Madrid links.
Neuer will be looking to prove himself to Low, following his bout with injuries
“You can rule me out completely,” Low said firmly. “For me it is not an issue, I am focused now on the World Cup. For sure Real Madrid will find a good replacement.”
Instead of paying any attention to football rumours, Low is fully focused on the task ahead – the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The Germany boss also gave assurances to fans that Manuel Neuer remains in his plans to be the number 1 goalkeeper, despite suffering injuries in recent times.
“Everything has gone to plan with Manuel Neuer. He took part every training session and hasn’t experienced any problems. I’m planning for him to start in goal.”
On top of that, Low added that certain players in his squad still need a few games under their belt to get into proper form before the start of the 2018 World Cup, as they haven’t featured much for their respective clubs towards the end of their domestic championships.
“Mats Hummels and Thomas Muller have had a lot of games with us, we know what to expect, which is why we’re leaving them behind for the Austria game. Mesut Ozil, Sami Khedira and Ilkay Gundogan didn’t play much towards the end of their domestic campaigns and need to find their rhythm. This is a chance for them.”

Germany are the defending champions, having won the tournament in 2014 Brazil four years prior so they’re one of the main favourites to win it again this year with odds of 5.50 (9/2), only behind top dogs Brazil 5.00 (4/1). The South American side have put on some incredible performances during the qualifying rounds, which is why providers of internet betting in Russia are giving them favourite odds for the 2018 World Cup.
However, we’re sceptical about Brazil’s chances of clinching the World Cup title this year, as Germany have a far superior squad – they seem to be almost complete as every position has a massive talent playing there. So, we’d rather back Germany to lift the 2018 World Cup trophy.
