Genting Seeking to Grow Beyond Singapore and Malaysia

Major casino operator in Singapore, Genting, seeking to spend billions on casinos in America, Japan, and South Korea.

Genting is a casino-resorts operator. Its posh casinos are based in Singapore and Malaysia, both Muslim dominated countries where gambling is not likely to be looked at well. Yet, these states want to get their chunk of change, especially from the prosperous gamblers who now visit Macau to satisfy their thirst for first class gambling.

While licensed under the Singaporean gambling laws, not an easy thing to do, Genting has been able to accumulate a war chest, worth few billion of dollars, and is seeking to expand beyond its current territory.

Genting has even donated money for a television campaign, praising New York’s governor Cuomo, in hopes of getting a casino license there. Unfortunately, when the news of foreign gambling companies lobbying in the US came out, Cuomo’s image rather suffered than got improved.

Genting also sought to develop a nearly $4 billion dollar casino-resort in Miami, Florida, which didn’t come into effect. Now, the company is eyeing other prospects, especially in the Far East. As Singapore gambling news indicate, Genting may be targeting South Korea and possibly Japan.

Genting, with billions to spend, is one of the larger players to throw the weight around the industry. Indeed, we would be surprised if in the addition to land-based resorts, the company would ignore such new growth areas as mobile casinos. These are becoming more and more popular among young smartphone users.

The latest mobile casino technology offers players highly attractive games such as roulette, mobile slots, blackjack, and others. These can easily be played on decent phones such as iPhones or Samsung’s Galaxies.
