Renowned online gambling software company Playtech applies for Jersey Enterprise remote gambling license
Playtech, a highly trusted online gambling software provider, operating in full compliance with British gambling laws, has applied for a remote gambling license with Jersey Enterprise.
The application is the end-result of months of discussions and preparatory talks between Playtech, Jersey Enterprise and the Jersey Gambling Commission. Such high-profile application is regarded as a major boost to the Island’s online gambling strategy and potential economic advancement.
Playtech already powers a long list of renowned online casinos in United Kingdom and worldwide. Entering Jersey jurisdiction will allow the company to extend its reach and offer its solutions to a wide selection of new gambling operators.
Alan Maclean, Jersey Economic Development, commented: “I see this license application from a market leader like Playtech as a stamp of approval for Jersey ‘s new eGaming industry. It demonstrates how we can leverage Jersey’s long-standing reputation for excellent regulation; infrastructure and world class professional services by developing exciting new opportunities for our economy from the lucrative global eGaming market.”
CEO of Playtech, Mor Weizer, told United Kingdom gambling news: “We are delighted to be seeking an operating licence in Jersey. We met last year with the Jersey authorities in Israel who convinced us of the merits of the new licensing regime and their commitment to the sector.”
He added: ”With many of our existing licensees having operations in the Channel Islands it makes good sense for us to seek a licence in Jersey to support our customers from a regulated jurisdiction with a first class infrastructure.”
