Film Junkies’ Paradise In Las Vegas, Part I.

We’ve assembled an army of places where some of the best movies were shot in Vegas. You only have to follow our lead into movie heaven.

Let’s start with the most recent movie that was shot in Las Vegas and work our way back in time.

There is no chosen genre because we don’t like to discriminate. Watch the movies and visit the places afterwards, then go gambling and enjoy yourself. Make your stay in Vegas a true experience that you can recall when you have boring days at the office. There are so many locations to choose from. So, instead of a top ten, I give you our top fourteen choices. Lights, camera, action!

The Hangover (2009)

You know the movie: bachelor party, drugs and booze, wedding with a stripper and a Korean gangster trying to off you… just the usual. Starring Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and other great actors, this is a heartwarmingly dorky comedy. I mean, what can be funnier than the groom disappearing just before the big day? Oh, and is presumed dead? Hilarious. The movie uses famous Vegas locations such as Caesars Palace and the Riviera Hotel and Casino. So stop betting on mobile casinos, and go, be free!

21 (2008)

Look at this cast: Kevin Spacey, Laurence Fishburne and Kate Bosworth. With actors like that, a movie can’t be bad. It tells the true story of the MIT Blackjack Team and how they win huge tons of cash with card counting. It’s a film during which you won’t be bored for a second. The crew used the Riviera Hotel and Casino and the Red Rock Resort and Spa as filming locations.

Iron Man (2008)

I know this movie title will definitely make Marvel fans throw away their mobile bettingin an instant. But who doesn’t love Iron Man? Is there a person on this planet? Nope, didn’t think so. Remember that scene when Tony Stark misses the “Apogee Award” presentation? Well, that part was set in Caesars Palace. So, if you want to walk on hallowed ground, you know exactly where to go…

Ocean’s Thirteen (2007)

Ah, a classic. Fun fact: the original Ocean’s Eleven directed by Lewis Milestone in 1960, was shot in Vegas, too. There are a couple of big stars in this film, too: Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia and Al Pacino all play a part in this action-and-brains packed picture. The cunning group of clever criminals comes together for yet another scam. There are plenty of Las Vegas filming locations in this movie, including the Bellagio, McCarran International Airport and Mandala Bay.

Rat Race (2001)

Well, if you love Whoopi Goldberg, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Rowan Atkinson aka. Mr. Bean, this is the movie for you. Watch it after you’ve done a bit of mobile casino gambling on English poker sites. You’ll instantly feel fresh and ready to go on a trip to The Venetian, where some scenes of the movie were shot. And, if you listen closely, you can almost hear the sound of Mr. Bean’s voice coming through with the wind.

Rush Hour 2 (2001)

This is the movie that always makes me smile. No matter how many times I watch it, it is a guaranteed pick-me-up. With some of the most loved characters in movie history, Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, get ready for an hour and a half of action and giggles. Obviously, it centers around martial arts (duh, Jackie Chan plays in it…) and has the typical “get the bad guys” plot, but it’s loveable with all its clichés. Most of it was shot in the Desert Inn, which has since then been destroyed (this movie was its last appearance.) You can still visit the site, though, and then have a cocktail at the Beach club next door.

Baby Geniuses (1999)

If I was the type of person who says “awww” when they see a baby, I’d be “awww”-ing all over this movie, for sure. It’s a family-comedy and the first movie that used Computer-Generated Imagery to form the shapes of the toddlers as if they were uttering real words. It’s a lovely, light movie meant for movie nights on Sunday. Some scenes were shot in the Adventuredome amusement park which is located in the MGM-owned Circus-Circus Hotel.
