Following the action in the Champions League, we now turn our attention to the quarter finals of the Europa League.
After a thrilling first round of encounters in the quarter finals of the second most popular football competition, fans gear up to support their sides in the return legs. gambling news reports that Dnipro will host Club Brugge at home where they will face a tough challenge as the first round ended in a 0-0 draw. Dynamo Kiev will square off against Fiorentina away from home, a match that should produce many thrilling plays.in keeping a clean sheet.
• Fiorentina face Dynamo Kiev at home
• Napoli have one foot in the semi-finals
• Zenit host defending champions Sevilla
Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg will go head to head with last year’s Europa League champions Sevilla on their own ground, however they will face a tough challenge in keeping a clean sheet. Napoli will play Germans Wolfsburg in front of their home support, but considering the fact that they clinched a cool 4-1 result last week, they will probably sit back and defend Italian style.
Dnipro vs Club Brugge and Fiorentina vs Dynamo Kiev
Dnipro just barely qualified for the knockout stages of the competition as they ended their group with 7 points, 1 more than Qarabag FK. They weren’t so convincing with their performances then and are not looking so confident now either. In the first round last week the match ended in a 0-0 tie, however now they will be aiming to use home field advantage and potentially score a goal in the back of the opposition’s net.
Brugge on the other hand have managed performed quite well in the group stage. They clinched first spot thanks to 3 wins and 3 draws overall, which granted them 12 points in the end. The Belgian side also scored a cool 10 goals when they faced their opponents, while conceding only 2 in the process. Bet365 therefore believes that they will manage to win the game against Dnipro, with their odds being 2.05 (12/11). A win for the visiting side is not very realistic 4.00 (3/1).
Fiorentina will play Dynamo Kiev at home tonight where they will be looking to score some important goals. The first match ended in a disappointing 1-1 tie, so the return game will hopefully be more exciting for fans and punters alike. The odds for Fiorentina wining the encounter is quite favorable 1.75 (3/4), while a draw between them for the games has been set at a high 3.80 (14/5).
The Ukrainians put on some impressive performances while applying in Group J. They finished first with an almost perfect record, which saw them clinch 5 wins overall and only 1 unfortunate loss. Their great run lead to them notching 12 goals and letting in only 4 during the 6 games. Unfortunately, mobile betting providers don’t rank them as serious candidates for the win 5.25 (17/4), although in reality they are a solid team.
Zenit St. Petersburg vs Sevilla and Napoli vs Wolfsburg
Sevilla, how are the current defending champions of the Europa League, have not quite impressive in the group stages. They finished second with 11 points to their name, but overall they suffered 2 draws and 1 loss while playing on the road. However, despite experiencing setbacks in the beginning of the season, they managed to defeat Zenit St. Petersburg 2-1 last week in their native Andalusia.
For the return leg, the 2008 UEFA champions have been assigned favorite status 2.38 (11/8), while a draw for the match stands at a cool 3.50 (5/2). They dropped out of the Champions League and are now trying to make up for that disappointment by progressing far in the second most watched competition. Sevilla are underdogs for this game, with odds being 3.10 (21/10). Whichever way the match goes, it should be a thrilling encounter.
And finally, the last match on the agenda is the one between Napoli and German side Wolfsburg. Last week the Wolves suffered a humiliating loss in front of their home crowd as they let in 4 goals in the back of their net, 2 of which were converted by Hamsik. They managed to score a consolation goal, however they are probably not going to make further progress in the competition.
Online sportsbooks in the EU have dealt the Italian side preferential chances 2.20 (6/5), while a win for the travelling team is not a realistic option 3.30 (23/10). The game will most likely see Napoli take a more defensive role, as they will be looking to defend their great result from the first round. That is the reason why a tie for the match is also a possibility 3.80 (14/5).
