Dundee University Student Wins the First Student Poker Championship in Scotland

The first Scottish Student Poker Championship, which took place on 22-23 February, was won by a student from Dundee University.

The tournament happens thanks to the jewellers Sayers London, who sponsored the event, which was the first of its kind in Scotland, and followed all UK gambling laws.

All the players, who were over 50, were students at major Scottish Universities, who competed passionately for the Scottish Student Championship title and the Sayers London poker bracelet.

The event took place in the Grosvenor Casino in Edinburgh, and Conor Ogg, a student at Dundee University, won the tournament.

The winner had a lot of reasons to celebrate

Conor celebrated his birthday the day after the championship, so he had many reasons to be happy.

His practice at different UK online poker rooms brought him the Sayers London Championship bracelet, GBP 378 cash prize and entry into a future tournament with GBP 100,000 prize pool.

Ogg commented on his win: “It was great to get the win after about 14 hours of play, the main reason I came was for the bracelet, so it felt great to close the game out.”

Conor achieved an early chip lead, then lost some of his advance, but by the time he made the final table, he had started accumulating chips again and eventually won the title.

The event was organized by the Edinburgh University Poker Society supported by other student poker societies in Scotland.
