Liverpool are open to the idea of letting Dejan Lovren find a new home after a six-year service at Anfield. It will not be difficult for The Reds to find a bidder. But, most offers will likely come from Serie A as Dejan Lovren transfer odds show.
Lovren’s contract is up in 2021, and the possibility of extension at Anfield seems to be relatively slim. Thus, Liverpool are eagerly looking for a good bidder in order to cash in rather than letting Lovren go for free next year. The 30-year-old defender is highly respected at Anfield, thus he will have a choice to pick his next club at an agreeable price.
As online sportsbook news sites in Italy reported, Lovren has managed 184 appearances for Liverpool since joining the club in 2014. However, the Croatian has fallen behind Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip in the pecking order. Thus, he was only taking the role of a reliable backup in the last two years. So, the time has come and a move out of Anfield is inevitable. Dejan Lovren transfer odds are wide open, but Serie A clubs including Roma, Inter and AC Milan seem to be on top of the race.
Roma have strong relations with The Reds
Back in August 2019, Roma approached Liverpool with a last-minute bid to sign Dejan Lovren. The Reds did not reject the offer at that time but they were keen for Lovren to leave on a permanent deal. Roma preferred to sign the defender on a loan with an option to buy, and that led the deal to collapse.
Roma and Liverpool have a very strong relationship. Both Mo Salah and Alisson Becker have come from the Stadio Olimpico to win the UCL title for The Reds. Thus, that will certainly play a good role in making a new deal. However, it seems obvious that any new deal will have to involve a permanent move. Should that happen, Dejan Lovren transfer odds are 8/1 for Roma to sign him in, according to BetVictor.
AC Milan failed to sign Lovren twice
AC Milan is another Serie A top club highly interested in signing the Croatian defender. Milan have expressed their longtime interest, as they have been struggling with injuries in defense. Last summer, Milan have approached The Reds but the negotiations were unsuccessful. Milan came back in the winter to cover up for the injured Mattia Caldara, but again nothing happened. New talks will probably take place this summer, with 8/1 odds for the deal to be sealed, yet it is hard to predict what might exactly happen.
The Reds might seek a swap deal with Inter Milan
Although the odds are 16/1 at online sportsbooks in Italy for Inter to sign Lovren, the club did not make any move yet. But, several reports have come out recently confirming Liverpool are seeking to sign Inter Milan’s young defender Alessandro Bastoni. It is very likely that Inter will not let the promising young defender go easily. Thus, a swap deal might be the best option with Dejan Lovren offered in exchange for Bastoni. That will be great news for Lovren, but it remains to be seen whether the two parties will kick off the negotiations.
