Czech Event of European Poker Tour Produced a German Win

A 21-year-old German student from Frankenberg, Martin Finger, just came out on top of a 722 strong field to take the honors in the prestigious European Poker Tour Prague tournament.

The live tournament was held at Golden Prague Poker venue, operating in full compliance with Czech gambling laws, in Hilton Prague Hotel with €5,300 buy-in and a prize pool of €3,501,700. The winner is a well-respected Poker Stars online player, but this win was the first major live poker triumph for him.

Along with the first place, Finger pocketed €720,000 and a gold bracelet worth €10,000. He qualified for the live tourney via an online satellite at one of the most popular online poker sites in Czech Republic – Poker Stars.

Following several days of exhausting poker action, the final table was formed and included David Boyacayin Nicolas Levi, Guillen Usero, Denys Drobyna, Ari Engel, Andreas Wiese and Mads Wissing. Finger started the final table as the chip leader and managed to maintain his lead all the way through to the heads up against Dutchman David Boyacayin.

Czech Republic gambling news reported that the Dutchman, a banker by day, proved to be a exceptional opponent, stretching the heads up play out to an almost four hour competition.

Boyacayin even managed briefly to take the chip lead away from Finger, but it wasn’t enough to stop the young and talented German. Finger secured his biggest career win, leaving his opponent with a second place and a check for €535,000. The Dutchman was pleased to add this money to the impressive €382,200 he collected just last month winning the Amsterdam Master Classic tourney.

European Poker Tour will return in January with EPT Deauville held from January 31 – February 6 at the Casino Barriere.
