City of Dreams Manila is the first integrated casino resort to receive a regular gaming license from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.
The Philippine casino destination operated by Melco Crown Resorts Corporation announced the acquisition of their full gaming license. With a provisional license from the Philippine casino regulators, they were able to immediately open the unit. With this footstep, City of Dreams Manila became the first casino in the country to receive a regular gaming license from Pagcor, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.
Philippine gambling news report, that the casino regulator passed the license on May 4th and it will expire in July 11th, 2033. The full license was included in the agenda, when the casino destination reached a $1billion investment threshold. On December 14th City of Dreams Manila held a soft opening which was followed with an official registration on February 2.
Contributing to Philippine economy
Pagcor`s president Jorge Sarmiento said, that “since opening, City of Dreams Manila has contributed to the integrated casino resort industry in the country.” He added that the corporation recognizes the casino destination`s support of Philippine investments, which is one of “the fastest growing economy among emerging markets in Southeast Asia.”
In order to receive a provisional license, Philippine gambling laws require casino resorts to hire at least 95 percent of their employees from the Philippines. And Melco Crown Resorts Corporation will probably continue to hire, as this is only the second of their four planned casinos. All of them will be based in Manila`s Entertainment City, which is an zone situated by Philippine authorities.
