After nine grueling days, the first major poker tournament of the year has ended. Here are the 3 winners of the 2017 PokerStars Championship in the Bahamas.
The 2017 PokerStars Championship in the Bahamas began on January 6th. A number of celebrities attended the tournament, but in the end it was strictly the pros. All 3 events are now concluded, so let’s take a look at the winners.
Main Event Winner: Christian Harder
Maryland Native Christian Harder notched the most recent poker accomplishment on his belt after winning the main event of the recent PokerStars Championship. Many poker betting experts predicted Harder would get it done, as he was one of the most decorated players in the tournament with the second-most cashes in the World Series of Poker Main Event.
Harder first made the final table of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in 2008, and managed to do it in the Bahamas this year. He came out on top of 738 other players to win the top prize of $429,664. After this incredible win, you can expect most online sportsbooks in the UK to list him as a poker betting favorite heading forward.
High Roller Winner: Luc Greenwood
Luc Greenwood and his two brothers Max and Sam are some of the best poker players in Canada. Earlier this month, Luc notched the biggest purse of his career winning $779,268 in the high roller event. Through the first two days, it looked like Nick Petrangelo would be the winner.
Just before heads-up on the final day however, Greenwood took him over, and went on to knock his brother Sam out of the tournament. The final table was filled with a number of talented players like Byron Kaverman, and Michael Rocco, but in the end Luc Greenwood who came one of the 3 winners of the 2017 PokerStars Championship.
Super High Roller Winner: Jason Koon
Jason Koon left the Bahamas as the biggest winners of the 2017 PokerStars Championship, earning $1,650,300 in the Super High Roller event. Koon described his emotions after winning the massive poker tournament, saying “Sitting there with the trophy in front of me was kind of a surreal moment.”
Koon’s win in the Bahamas came at a good time, as he claims to be coming off the worst year of his career in 2015 when he won “just” $842,084. Jason attributes much of his success to incorporating game theory optimal concepts into his game. He will hope to make UK gambling news with another major win this year.
