Taylor, the most decorated darts player ever, won the PDC World Darts Championship a record 14 times, with his last success to date coming in 2013, when he beat Van Gerwen 7–4.

In 2014 the Power, though ranked as world’s No. 1, was powerless against Michael Smith, who eliminated him as early as the second round. Last year he reached the final at Ally Pally, but Anderson took home the £250,000 main prize after a thrilling 7–6 showdown. In the final of the Premier League, he defeated Van Gerwen 11–7, who was able to take revenge on him at the European Championship (11–10). As it was already mentioned above, the Flying Scotsman defeated Taylor 7–6 in last year’s amazing final, despite the Power having a better dart average by three points.

Anderson has 3.40 (12/5) 2016 World Darts Championship odds to reach the final according to BetVictor. He is 7.00 (6/1) to retain his title at the Alexandra Palace, and he would be the first one to do that since 2012, when Adrian Lewis won his second in a row.
