Casino Survey in UK Reveals 75% of Scotland Gambled in Past Two Years

According to recent survey by Gambling Commission in the UK, in the past year seventy five percent of Scots had gambled, which is higher than the total UK average by two percent. The survey also concluded that six out of sixteen categories of gambling including bingo, British internet casinos and slot machines were more popular in Scotland than in the whole UK. However, according to the Gambling Commission survey, Scotland has fewer gamblers who play online poker in United Kingdom than the overall UK average.

Additionally, the Survey found that as opposed to the UK average of fifty four percent of the overall population gambling in the UK the previous month, fifty nine percent of Scots admitted gambling in the same period. It has also been revealed that more Scots made bets at fixed-odds betting terminals than any other residents of the UK. Seven percent of Scottish respondents admitted to playing at the fixed-odds betting terminals in comparison to four percent of the UK average.

Convener of the Church and Society Council for the Church of Scotland, Reverend Ian Galloway expressed his worries: “I’m deeply troubled by the level of problem gambling associated with gaming machines, this form of gambling is solitary and repetitive. These high-value machines in betting shops turn every high street into a casino.”

On the other hand CEO for the Association of British Bookmakers, Patrick Nixon, assured that all forms of gaming are happening according to British gambling laws and most of adults in Britain are gambling responsibly and in a safe fashion.
