The Great Canadian Gaming Corporation will make a significant investment, following the renewal of its contract.
The Great Canadian Gaming Corporation is a company based in British Columbia. Under Canadian gambling laws , the operator is entitled to run several gambling venues across the country, including Casino Nova Scotia’s properties in Halifax and Sydney.
The government of Nova Scotia has decided to extend its contract with the local casino operator for another 10 years. According to recent gambling news, the company has committed to a $10-million capital investment in its casinos, with the deadline being set at the end of 2015.
Unexploited potential
Since 2005, the Great Canadian Gaming Corp. has been running the casinos on behalf of the province. Under the renewed deal, the company will continue to operate the local gambling venues for another decade.
Casino games are quite popular in Canada, but many experts have criticized the authorities’ refusal to fully exploit the potential of the internet gambling industry. There are no proper online casinos in Canada, except for a few gambling sites run by local governments.
While playing online casino games on foreign websites is not technically illegal, local authorities do not encourage potential investors to join the Canadian gambling market.
