Caesars Will Launch WSOP Online Poker Site In Nevada on International Talk Like a Pirate Day
This Thursday 19th, International Talk Like a Pirate Day, Nevada residents will get an added treat to go with the thousands of “shiver me timber”s they’re bound to hear. That’s right; the second online poker site in America will go live as Caesars Interactive Entertainment launches a WSOP poker room.
The real money World Series of Poker branded online poker room will have its software and gaming platform provided by 888 Holdings, and will offer not only a range of poker games and tournaments, but the new WSOP Online Championships, which will run across 9 events before the ‘Online 9’ final in November.
The move comes as other states look to get in on the online gambling scene after the changes to American gambling laws earlier in 2013. New Jersey will launch the first licensed American internet casino on 23rd November, while Delaware has a freeplay Facebook casino live. There are also thoughts that Google want to get in on the online casino act, with rumors of a bid for Bwin doing the rounds.
Speaking about the launch, Caesars CEO Mitch Garber said: “A state-of-the-art poker offering from one of the most established and regulated operators in the United States is finally here.”
He continued: “We have taken the 43-year-old World Series of Poker brand and combined it with the Caesars Entertainment portfolio of assets to provide consumers with what we believe will be an unrivalled poker offering to satisfy today’s technologically savvy consumer. We will bridge land-based and online gaming in ways that have never been seen before.”
It’s fitting that Nevada is the state to offer Americans poker rooms online, and Caesars will be hoping that the portal will prove a big success for the state. With casinos in America still suspicious of online offerings – despite the success they have achieved in Europe – this is big news.
