The manager of a betting shop is preparing to go on a 100 km charity trek, to raise money to fight gambling addiction.
Phil Gibbs is the marketing manager for the Cashino Gaming chain. The man has recently become the star of British gambling news, after deciding to trek across the Sahara Desert in order to raise money for a charity which fights gambling addiction.
The man runs a company which offers players the possibility to bet on sports in the UK and has branches across the country. But in order to show that the company encourages responsible gambling, Gibbs decided to embark on a five-day adventure in the Sahara Desert.
Support for problem gamblers
Phil Gibbs is not the only one determined to show his support for the charity organization battling gambling addiction. A total of 24 people from different sectors of the gambling industry will be participating in the event, which is scheduled to start on March 22.
The goal is to raise GBP 50,000 for the Responsible Gambling Trust, an organization which provides support for problem gamblers.
“As a company, Cashino Gaming is a major supporter of the Responsible Gambling Trust”, Phil Gibbs told reporters. “We want our customers to have a fantastic time with us, but we do our utmost to ensure they gamble responsibly. I hope as many people as possible will help me to reach my goal. I’m going to try my very best, even if I do have to cosy up to a camel.”
Update 1: Freddie Williams Bookmakers, Praesepe, The National Bingo Game Association, William Hill and Genting UK have already announced their participation.
