Why Not Bet On Marc Marquez To Win In San Marino This Sunday?

There are six races left in the Moto GP season and this weekend the boys in leathers are off to Misano for the San Marino and Rimini’s Coast motorcycle Grand Prix. The circuit is a modern day classic and the final third of this season is set to be a barnstormer as the six riders at the top of the World Championship table are within a few race wins of each other. The question is should you bet on Marc Marquez to win in San Marino or back Dovizioso to win for Ducati in front of Italian race fans?
- Can Dovizioso beat his 4/1 odds to win in front of home fans?
- Will Johann Zarco be the 20/1 winner on the Rimini Coast?
- Should you bet on Marc Marquez to win in San Marino?
- What will the absence of Valentino Rossi do to the atmosphere in Misano?
A bet on Marc Marquez to win in San Marino is no bad wager, after his retirement at Silverstone through a rare mechanical failure of his Repsol Honda he’ll be chomping at the bit to claw back the nine point lead Andrea Dovisiozo has on him in the championship, which may explain why the bookies like Bet365 give him 6/4 favourite status, with the more romantic idea of a Ducati win in front of home fans a 4/1 shot on Dovisiozo. However if you think this is a binary choice, think again. This is Misano.
Maverick Vinales gets 12/5 to spoil the chances of any bet on Marc Marquez to win in San Marino, and he’s hardly going to hold back after his credible second place at Silverstone and those three wins earlier in the season (Qatar, Argentina and France) but if you’re going to take advantage of Italian gambling laws on the Rimini coast and not bet on Marc Marquez to win this weekend there is really only one alternative to the top three at the moment, and that’s the guy in fifth place Dani Pedrosa at 7/1.
Does Rossi Not Racing Give Vinales A Chance At Misano?
The more eagle-eyed among you will quickly wonder why the name Valentino Rossi hasn’t been mentioned yet, his 157 points sitting him fourth and his love of Misano is well known so why can’t you bet on him at Bet365? Simply put he’s broken his leg and isn’t racing. The Doctor, is out. This means Pedrosa is in with a chance, as is the 12/1 shot that is Jorge Lorenzo who could just surprise everyone on the day despite his disappointing season, and a bet on Marc Marquez to win in San Marino more sensible than ever.

Of course the rider to keep an eye on is the 20/1 Johann Zarco who in his rookie season in the big league has put himself sixth in the championship and whilst he may not be an on-the-nose kinda wager he’s certainly worth an each way punt at those odds. Naturally any Italian gambling news of Rossi’s absence would spoil this race might just have a whisper of a reason, it won’t be the same without him, but this does mean all local fans who’ve not bet on Marc Marquez to win in San Marino will almost certainly be watching Dovizioso.
Bet On Marc Marquez To Win In San Marino At Bet365
Andrea Iannone – 50/1
Jonas Folger – 33/1
Cal Crutchlow – 25/1
Danilo Petrucci – 22/1
Johann Zarco – 20/1
Jorge Lorenzo – 12/1
Daniel Pedrosa – 7/1
Andrea Dovizioso – 4/1
Maverick Vinales – 12/5
Marc Marquez – 6/4
An Italian rider on an Italian bike in front of Italian fans. It doesn’t get much more pressured than that and after his win in the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello there will be more than a few fans who’ve eschewed the chance to bet on Marc Marquez to win in San Marino and will be urging their compatriot on to victory over the Spaniards. Whether Dovi can pull it off is another matter, especially as the weather conditions on the day might not be all that conducive to Grand Prix motorcycle racing.
With rain forecast there’s every chance that a bet on Marc Marquez to win in San Marino will be wasted and that if you must bet on sports in Italy this weekend you’ll need to look not at the fastest men or those at the top of the table but some of those you know can win in the wet. Cal Crutchlow at 25/1, Jonas Folger at 33/1 and Iannone at 50/1 are all better bets than they appear if it should get wet in Rimini this Sunday, although the hot tip might be a podium for Danilo Petrucci and his Ducati.
